Google Earth Shows Ocean Depths, Martian Peaks and Goes Back in Time
If you haven't checked out the latest version of Google Earth yet, now is definitely the time. The latest version allows you to explore the deepest ocean and the highest Martian peaks. The 3d mapping tool is extraordinary and is enhanced by videos, photos and information from National Geographic, the BBC, Cousteau Ocean World, Census of Marine Life and a vast array of conservation groups. Nothing short of awesome, the free program provides practical and useful data for environmental groups, teachers, or anyone wanting to learn more about threatened marine habitats, climate change, shipwrecks or Martians. There has never been a deeper resource on ocean information.
While Google Ocean is the most celebrated new feature, I'm particularly fascinated by the new historical imagery feature. You can see how your street or hometown or college has changed over time and see the impact of climate change, deforestation and urban planning.
takepart by downloading google earth 5 and learn about the global fishing crisis.
