*UPDATE : Here is more on Blagojevich's arrest from the New York Times. It doesn't look good for Rod.

So after I sang the praises of the Governor of Illinois, Rod Blagojevich, yesterday for speaking out against The Bank of America, he goes and gets himself taken into federal custody.

A source said today that Gov. Rod Blagojevich was taken into federal custody at his North Side home this morning. The U.S. attorney's office would not confirm the information, and a spokesman for the governor did not immediately return a phone call for comment. [Chicago Tribune]

This comes hot off of a 3 year investigation into Gov. Rod's admin and their use of pay-to-play politics.  That investigation recently got larger as it now included the Governor's selection process to replace Senator Barack Obama.  Oh Rod, I hope this isn't like an episode of The Wire - and just after you do the right thing (speak out for the striking workers in Chicago) it is all washed away from old corrupt things you did.

It really does sound like an episode of The Wire. Ugh. While we wait to hear more on this takepart with the United Electrical Workers to support the workers in Chicago!

Have you considered that the only reason that he is in federal custody is because he spoke out against BoA? He may very well be guilty, but the temporal proximity of these two events leaves me scratching my head. I'm no conspiracy theory nut, but the whole thing sounds like retribution.
