It's Time to Crack the Books

Catch Up The current national graduation rate is 70%. But President Obama plans to help U.S. students by turning around 5,000 of the nation’s lowest-performing schools in the next five years.

School's In Over the summer, children lose about 22% of what they learned the previous year. Part of Obama’s plan is to lengthen the school day and year to compete with students in China who spend 40 more days in school each year.

The Lesson Plan Obama’s other action items include teacher tenure, merit-based pay, affordable pre-school, and the addition of more charter schools. Reports suggest our GDP could grow to $2.3 trillion with improved education.
