Every day, around the world, places that mean the most to us – those touchstones for our children and our children’s children – are threatened by neglect, demolition, and environmental disaster. Every day, the World Monuments Fund (WMF) works to save these cherished places, wherever and whenever they are at risk. From the floods of Venice in the sixties to the restoration of the vast temple complexes of Angkor in Cambodia, WMF is there. We work with and through local communities and partnerships to identify and preserve these sites, to provide technical assistance and training, and to secure funding and build sustainable economic futures for these places. For over 45 years, our projects have ranged from mapping ancient Babylon to working with the Native American community at Taos Pueblo, to conserving modern architectural masterpieces by Frank Lloyd Wright. The World Monuments Watch is our call to action to save those sites around the world that face most imminent threats. The WMF Watch attracts widespread media attention, public interest, and government action.
