Climate Change Naysayers Nix Lecture From Expert

A high school superintendent in the town of Choteau, Montana had to tell Nobel laureate climate scientist Steven W. Running that his presentation of "The Five Stages of Climate Grief" had to be cancelled after some residents in the rural, ag-oriented community objected that "no opposing view would be offered,"  according to the New York Times.

I went into The Five Stages of Climate Fury myself after reading this, and I'm not the only one. Kip Barhaugh, a 17 year-old student who was looking forward to hearing Running speak, told the Times, "I was insulted as a high school student prepared to enter the world I need to hear both sides of the story"I don't feel there is another side. Global warming is not a controversial issue, it's a fact. We need to be prepared to deal with it."

Unfortunately, as Stephen Colbert famously noted, facts have a liberal bias, which explains why so many conservatives continue to fiddle while the world burns.

I think the concept of man being responsible for the extinction of mankind, is so hard to face, many can't look at the picture. Some theories threaten to destroy stories built on years of tradition. Evolution is one example. What people don't realize is that our story cannot stay static, but it could be a never ending one. If we see the truth. I was told I was arrogant to think mere man can affect the weather and kill himself in the process. I heard Mr. Al Gore called an alarmist. I heard Dr. David Suzuki called an extremist. But remember the story of the Holocaust? We must have hope. There are many men out there who want the horror to end! Remember the Holocaust aftermath? Many brave men have stepped forward. We just need a whole bunch more! Lora
