Alec Baldwin is currently one of the best things on television and Steve Martin is legend, put those two together and you have, what I expect to be, a dream duo hosting the Oscars. It was announced yesterday that Baldwin and Martin will co-host the event. I think the Los Angeles Times put it best saying “With any luck, they will not only shepherd the by-nature unwieldy show through its multiple hours with minimum bumps and dead air, but they’ll also do it with the old-fashioned insiders’ charm that made the academy want to put the event on television in the first place.”
The pair can also be seen both starring in the upcoming comedy “It’s Complicated,” opening this Christmas featuring them as love interests of Meryl Streep. If either actor gets a nomination for acting in the movie, he’ll be the first Academy Awards host to be nominated while presiding at the ceremony since Paul Hogan in 1987 when he was nommed for writing “Crocodile Dundee” and co-hosted the Oscars with Goldie Hawn and Chevy Chase.
The Oscars won’t be the first time Baldwin and Martin will make audiences laugh on television, click here to see the hilarious Saturday Night Live sketch Platinum Lounge featuring both actors. Yes, these two are quite fantastic together!
