Songs to Sing About: Florence and the Machine Posted by Gina Telaroli on October 29, 2009 at 12:16 pm

On Tuesday night I saw one of most amazing and inspiring concerts I have ever seen when I went to The Bowery Ballroom to see Florence and the Machine. And while there isn’t anything directly social action oriented about Florence and her music I can’t help but devote one post to telling the world about her and posting one of her videos.

The group is British and the show on Tuesday was her New York debut (she was also on Letterman).  She’s become incredibly popular abroad and I can’t imagine she won’t blow up here too.  Music is something that unites us and Florence’s music does it in the best way possible.  Her music is a mix of soul, gospel and indie and her presence on stage made me want to be a stronger woman.  She is a woman for women to look up to and for everyone to celebrate music and life and love and happiness with.  Give a watch to the video below from the show I was at--it shows how unfying and strong her music is, especially when played for a crowd.
