I love the pin-up girl style. Recently my pal Kate introduced me to the I HEART Bombshell Alliance, a gorgeous 1940s style pin-up calendar and accompanying compilation CD (manufactured by featuring Los Angeles based female musicians. All profits from the sale of the calendar will be donated to Sojourn Services for Battered Women and their Children and profits earned from the calendar’s launch party will be used to create a one-year scholarship for a young girl to attend The Silverlake Conservatory of Music.
Sadly I won’t be in town for the I HEART Pin-up Calendar Launch Party but if you’re in LA you should go support this great cause on Sunday, November 15, 6:30 pm at Hotel Cafe, 1623 1/2 N. Cahuenga, Hollywood, CA.
As explained on their site, I HEART Inc is an incorporated 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Their ultimate aim is to empower independent artists and their communities by encouraging the artists to use the resources at their disposal (their creativity and their fanbase) to help raise money for charitable organizations. In the process of raising awareness and much needed funds they also intend to expose the participating artists to new fans as well as fellow artists who are utilizing their creativity to inspire change locally and globally.
In addition to the Bombshell Alliance calendar and CD, I HEART has lots of other cool projects including: The Indie-Rock Easel where indie-rockers who moonlight as visual artists turned their versatile talents into limited edition t-shirt designs for charity, charity holiday parties, and the upcoming I HEART Recycling Program and I HEART Green Music Tour, which is an environmentally-friendly national tour that allows indie musicians to reduce their carbon footprint while promoting environmental awareness to both fans and fellow musicians, and more.
