Top Chef’s Sustainable Restaurant Wars Posted by Gina Telaroli on October 23, 2009 at 11:21 am

top-chef-las-vegas-season-6-logoRestaurant Wars is always the most exciting Top Chef episode of the season with the exception of the season finale. On it two teams have to not only make a wonderful meal but also create a restaurant, complete with a menu, theme and an actual night of service. This season’s challenge was entertaining for the usual reasons but was particularly exciting due to the guest judge.  Rick Moonen is one of the world’s most celebrated seafood chefs and more importantly he’s been a strong advocate for sustainable fishing practices for quite some time.

He brought those beliefs to the Restaurant Wars episode this past Wednesday and gave each of the chefs a seafood watch card that listed fish that were safe to buy and made them use it for the final cooking challenge.   How awesome is that!?

Give a watch to a clip with Rick Moonen below and go to act section of this post to learn how you can get your own seafood watch card.
