On The Oprah Winfrey Show friday, Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield and Holyfield said he has forgiven Tyson for biting his ear during the heavyweight title fight in 1997. Holyfield said “the most important thing is to forgive, and I forgave him It wasn’t really as bad as they made it out to be. Things happen for a reason, but it’s how you handle it.”
The meeting came after Tysons solo interview on Oprah in which he discussed the death of his daughter, prison, and domestic abuse. Check out this clip featuring footage from both appearances:
I have mixed feelings about Tyson. I mean, he’s a convicted rapist however I appreciated how candid he was in the Oprah interview and I want to believe in forgiveness. But still, Tyson has made mistakes that have have darker my opinion of him. Between the Oprah interview and his documentary Tyson which debuted at Cannes last year, it seems Tyson really wants to get his side of the story out there, and I must say I’m curious to hear it.
What do you think about Mike Tyson’s appearance on Oprah? Is he an example of the power of forgiveness or is a disturbed man who is unforgivable?
