When I read the synopsis for Serious Moonlight at Tribeca last year I have to say that it didn’t stand out as a movie I should see. I’ve always liked Adrienne Shelly but on premise alone this seemed pretty typical.
I was therefore quite surprised when the trailer below actually made me think the movie might be one that I’d like to see. I love the line when Timothy Hutton’s character tells Meg Ryan’s that she doesn’t really need him as an explanation for his cheating on her--this seems to me to be one of the main reasons men flee, they don’t feel NEEDED.
And in turn her response that she doesn’t NEED him but she LOVES him also rings true. It’s hard to be an independent, self-sustaining woman and find a man that is OK with that.
Also, amazingly enough Meg Ryan looks pretty funny in this.
Here’s hoping that it’s actually good and makes a statement about awesome indepent women today!
