Music on a Saturday always sounds sweeter to me, especially if your listening outdoors, which is why I was excited to stumble upon a video of composer Diego Stocco who turned a tree in his back yard into a musical instrument. With only a few minor modifications to some twigs with a pencil sharpener, Diego “tuned” a living tree and recorded the rushes of leaves, the pings of branches, and thumps of bark, to create an orchestration from nature. I’ve always loved music composed from found sounds, and what better way to pay homage to the plants that help keep us alive, then by allowing them to sing. Check out the video, it’s pretty remarkable:
