Explaining Climate Change to Kids Posted by Giulia Rozzi on October 15, 2009 at 5:56 pm

As you may have noticed, many of our blog posts today have been focused on climate change in honor of Blog Action Day. It’s great that bloggers around the globe are writing about climate change, but I’m guessing most kids don’t read blogs. So don’t leave the little ones in the dark about this issue–check out The Climate Change Kids Site for lots of kid-friendly info, animations and games focused on the greenhouse effect, climate change, and global warming. (And to be honest, it’s also great site for adults in need of some easier-to-understand info on environmental issues.)

Also, check out this video on climate change called “Wake Up, Freak Out–then Get a Grip” which I found on Oneclimate.net Kids Channel. Oneclimate.net is a UK-based social networking space focused on climate change and their kids site also has lots of fun cartoons and games.

Oh wow! Mr. Murray did a marvelous job with the video… Thank you! Hmmm, makes me think and ponder some more… well, since it’s BLoG AcTioN DaY, let me share my thoughts about the subject matter — Two storms hit us two weeks ago, the effect on us was devastating. Until now, we’re sweeping the streets from mud and from the tons of ruined appliances destroyed by the twin-storm. Until now some are still flooded, many are left homeless and some lost their loved ones. They are seeing four more storms coming this year. This is not usual. News said its all because of global warming/climate change. I used to be blithely about the issue, but after these storms, I thought to myself I need to do something too. I think to solve the global warming problem, it must be stormed at the national and international levels. But the total success is built upon the action of every individual, regardless of nationality, to conserve energy and focused on living in a greener, cleaner community. Thank you for this post. Happy Blog Action Day! It’s still October 15 here, 6:55pm :-)
