All too often in movies, when someone gets pregnant who doesn’t want to be, abortion is made out to be either a big deal or non-existent .  It is always frustrating to me that we don’t see more realistic scenarios surrounding unplanned pregnancies. While abortion is of course not a happy thing, it is a choice and it is one women make without a ton of drama surrounding it.
So when I found a link to Gillian Robespierre’s Obvious Child in Bitch Magazine online, I was really pleased. It’s a 20 minute short romantic comedy-esque film about young twenty somethings–it’s simple but realistic, which is awesome. It looks at abortion as a legitimate and important choice. It also features a shot of one of my favorite NYC locations, Film Forum!
