Most Broome residents abhor the slaughter of dolphins but our history and ties with the people of Taiji who are not actually involved in slaughtering dolphins, goes back nearly a century! So please do not waste your time responding to this request to bombard the shire yet again with emails demanding Broome continues to suspend ties with Taiji. The shire is not entitled to expropriate the close and personal ties of many Broome residents in response to a cyber bombardment which despite spurious and self serving press releases from the promotors and film (money)makers has had no effect on the dolphin slaugther. The shire has already been castigated by local residents for suspending ties with Taiji without proper consultation with the broader community. They will not fall for this pressure again especially as shire elections are due on the 17 October. Any councilor voting to continue suspension of ties knows they will not be re elected on Saturday!
