National Coming Out Day is this Sunday, October 11th, and whether you are gay, lesbian, transgender or straight there will be events across the country to show your support for LGBT equality. For many people sharing their sexual orientation or gender identity with others, even those close to them, can seem like an insurmountable task, but with the shared strength of friends, family and community members, those conversations become an opportunity for that person to take pride in who they are.
The Human Rights Campaign is helping to coordinate National Coming Out Day and provides you with resources, including finding an event near you, hosting an event, writing letters to the editor, and guides for coming out. They also invite people to share their own story about coming out or make a pledge to have a conversation about equality. After the jump check out HRC’s Conversations from the Heart videos and use the action link below to get involved on National Coming Out Day:
