I blog, you blog, even my ten-year-old niece blogs, and with so many of us sharing our thoughts with the world, it’s not surprising that the internet sometimes feels a bit crowded, and overwhelming. Thankfully, Blog Action Day 2009 is quickly approaching, when we can harness that collective roar of the blogosphere to focus on one important issue and help bring about positive change in the world.
Organized by Change.org, Blog Action Day invites all blogs, big or small, to write about the same topic on October 15, and in anticipation of the upcoming U.N. climate conference, this year’s theme is climate change.
So, no matter what you usually write about on your blog, you’re invited to join the over 4,000 blogs already registered (including many of Technorati’s top 100 blogs), and join the discussion on climate change. Anyone is free to join and there are no limits to the number of posts, the type of posts or the direction of thoughts and opinions, and you’re encouraged to write about climate change in the context of what you typically write (check out the site for some topic suggestions).
I really love the idea of uniting all of our voices to find sustainable solutions for the climate crisis, so you can bet I’ll be there (and my niece too!). Check out the inspirational video for Blog Action Day below, and use the action link to get involved even if you don’t have a blog. Also learn more about last year’s Blog Action Day, which focused on Poverty.

I blogged! And when you blog for Blog Action Day, please use the term “global warming” instead of “climate change!”
http://waterwordsthatwork.com/2009/10/07/blog-action-day-thousands-of-bloggers-tricked/
Thanks for your comment Eric, and I’m happy to hear you’re joining us for Blog Action Day. I can understand your concern that “climate change” doesn’t have the same teeth as “global warming” and I agree that we should be aware of the manipulative disinformation of skeptics. However the term “climate change” is widely accepted as the more accurate term because it includes global warming as well as the variety of other effects caused by rising greenhouse gas emissions. NASA has a great explanation of the difference between the two terms:http://www.nasa.gov/topics/earth/features/climate_by_any_other_name.html
Climate change is such an important issue that I’m blogging on it all week in support of Blog Action Day. My most recent post is “The Green Energy Fairy Tale is Real” at http://t1rex.blogspot.com/2009/10/green-energy-fairy-tale-is-real.html
We in addsmore.org are trying to raise the awareness about climate change by involving brands.
Imagine if brands would incorporate in their ads, climate messages that would teach people to reduce their carbon emission? Simple phrases like “turn off your light”, “recycle more”, “hang your washing out!”… The impact would be huge. But just like you - we need to put pressure on brands so that they take action in this fight. How can people help us? By writing on their hands, arms climate preservation messages and send to us the pics – either via http://www.facebook.com/addsmore and/or http://www.twitter.com/addsmore Once we get as many pictures as possible we shall send them to all big brands and try to get to use their advertisement space… just for the planet!
Powerful Essay on Understanding Global Warming as Human-Induced
To truly understand Global Warming as due to HUMAN activity one needs to understand the time-scales involved.
Here’s a powerful essay in advance of the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, with a foreword by Dr. James Hansen, Director of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies:
