While I’m generally not a big advocate for fast food, I am encouraged to learn that Pizza Hut has pledged to donate four meals (up to 100,000) by way of World Hunger Relief, for every person that retweets their Twitter message with a link to their PayPal donation page and the hashtag #pizzahut.
Sure, it’s partly a marketing ploy, but hey at least they’re using the lure of the cheese-stuffed crust to do good in the world. And at least they’re not sending garlic sticks to children in need, which to be honest, I was slightly concerned about when I first read the news.
In addition to the meals donated for tweets, you can also donate directly to the program through the compay’s PayPal page, or if you want to bypass Twitter all together, you could always just donate directly to World Hunger Relief.
The twitter donations are part of the larger World Hunger Relief campaign by Yum! Brands, who owns Pizza Hut (along with KFC and Taco Bell), which started in 2007 with Christina Aguilara as it’s spokesperson and has since donated $37 million to the UN’s World Food Programme.
So what are you waiting for? You’ve got until the end of October to reach 25,000 retweets, though I’m not exactly sure what happens then. Free delivery?
