No Impact Project Week With The Huffington Post Posted by Danny Jensen on September 27, 2009 at 3:22 pm

picture-24If you’ve heard about No Impact Man, the documentary film and the book that follow Colin Beavan and his family’s efforts to live with no environmental impact in New York City for one year, you’ve probably thought to yourself: Could I do that?  Well, now The Huffington Post has partnered with No Impact Project, a non-profit started by Mr. Beavan, are launching No Impact Week, when you can take part in the ambitious, if slightly wacky, project.  The week begins on October 18th and according to The Huffington Post:

This week will give people the opportunity to examine and reduce their ecological footprint by taking part in a short and intense period of conscious consumption supported by local and online communities

Using a detailed guide (to be released soon), you’ll learn ways, big and small, to lessen your impact on the planet, without necessarily giving up all of your creature comforts.  Huffpost bloggers will also  be writing about their own experiences, and the site invites everyone to post videos, photos and commentary about their own experiment in no (or low) impact living.  You’ll also be able to join in the discussion on the No Impact Project Facebook page, and learn new tips on the Twitter feed.

Reducing the ecological footprint of your daily routine can sometimes seem overwhelming, but I’m a believer in taking small green steps, which you’re more likely to stick with than an immediate eco-overhaul.  So, use the action link below to sign up to take part in No Impact Week, and tell your friends and family to do the same.  Let’s find out how much of a collective impact we can make, or rather, not make.
