As we can see from this clip below, Chris Martin of the band Coldplay (maybe you’ve heard of them?) really, really believes in charity.
That scene kills me every time. Anyhow, all joking aside, Coldplay has never been shy in lending their support to causes they believe in, and this time, they’ve really stepped up to the plate by donating one million pounds to Kid’s Company, a London-based charity serving “vulnerable inner-city children and young people,” according to the foundation’s website. And by the way, a million pounds, Pitchfork tells us, is $1,616,809 American. Which isn’t too shabby. Says the NME,
The charity, which helps young ex-offenders and disadvantaged children, received the donation from the band, who have generously given the cash to help the organisation achieve its goals…
Coldplay have previously visited the charity’s various centres and, as well as donating the money, plan to give music lessons to the children.
So the band didn’t think it would be enough to teach disadvantaged children personally, and decided to donate a seven-figure gift to the charity. That’s just awesome. Oh, and in case you were worried the band wasn’t doing anything for you, personally, Coldplay is giving away a live EP absolutely free, right here.
Okay, let’s recap:
1. Chris Martin is hilarious and lampoons himself.
2. 1 million pounds to charity
3. Free EP
Man, I love it when everybody wins.
