President Barack Obama appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman last night. Obama is the first sitting president to appear on the program and he was the only guest of the night. The Top Ten list was about why Obama would agree to do “Letterman” with one of the most memorable answers being “Obama said yes without thinking about it…like Bush did with Iraq.”
Due to time constraints the Top Ten list was cut but it’s available on the CBS Web site (and pasted below). Some other highlights included a discussion on racism (Dave asked if former President Jimmy Carter is on to something when he speculated that this poor decorum was rooted in racism, and Obama replied “Well, first of all, I think it’s important to realize that I was actually black before the election, so…This is true.”) and a woman in the audience who gave the President a potato in the shape of a heart.
Tonight Dave welcomes former president Bill Clinton. I really hope he brings his sax (and I hope he brings Arsenio Hall).
