Fair Trade may seem like a pretty self-explanatory term to some people, but not everyone is aware of what an important difference they can make by purchasing products that adhere to strong environmental and social standards. Fair Trade certification ensures, among other things, that a fair price was paid for the product, workers were provided a fair wage and safe conditions, money is reinvested in the community and farmers used ecologically sustainable practices.
Since most of us enjoy chocolate, coffee, bananas and the variety of other tasty treats that can be Fair Trade certified, I encourage everyone to make a point of seeking out a Fair Trade option for their next purchase. And wouldn’t you know it, next month is Fair Trade Month, so what better time to start! Check out this video below to more about how your dollars can make a difference:

Inspired by ‘Free’ Trade with Columbia
I hear from many an honorable source, that some in Columbia will be dealt with by force,
For US who want a pretty banana, of course. Be very careful or we will suffer remorse.
All colors of man and the things he adores, are gifts to protect. Stop with these wars!
We have the technology to build up our stores, and grow US fair food. When it rains it pours!
There is no evil I see on this earth. Just men and women who have suffered from birth.
They do not know what each other is worth. Can we all stop and study? Bring many more mirth?
The trouble with free trade is the bigger gets fat. The smaller are helpless. I will go to bat!!
For Fair Trade, not Free! We can all live with that!! How can you help? By not being a brat!!
