TakePart’s weekly catch-all of interesting stuff around the internet has become more of a monthly installment, but I’m back in action now that summer is over! Enjoy and tune in next week for links that you can’t afford to miss.

1. Redesign the Roach Coach

Local produce has never gotten so…local. Our friends at GOOD asked people to submit their ideas to redo the standard farmers’ market closed-side-street stroll, and the winner is perfect: gut a taco truck and fill it with fresh goodies.

2. Get your hands dirty

A poster that requires a bit of soot to get the point across: “The future belongs to the few of us still willing to get our hands dirty.” (via Osocio)

3. An Awesome Idea

I became a fan of Dallas Clayton’s perfectly joyful, optimist point of view last year when he released “An Awesome Book.” Now he’s taking on a TOMS business model–every book you buy, he gives one away to promote literacy. Check out his new organization Awesome World Foundation and dream BIG.

4. Own a piece of NYC…before it’s cleaned up

Justin Gignac started selling little cubes of NYC trash to prove a point: great packaging design would sell anything, even dirty garbage off the street. Since 2001, he has managed to sell over 1,200 worldwide, and feature special editions like Opening Day at the Yankee Stadium and New Year’s Eve Time Square 2008. (via psfk)

5. Make [this] better

New campaign at Power To the Poster encourages you to download their poster, fill in the blank, and post it across town. Get people to move and let’s make ___ better. While you’re over there, check out other posters at the Citizens Gallery.

6. Rip it, watch it, change it

I’ve been talking about it all week, and now I’m going to tell you: watch Rip: A Remix Manifesto.
