The two most talked about things from last nights MTV Video Music Awards are the magical tribute to Michael Jackson and Kanye West ruining Taylor Swift’s magical moment.
Let’s start with the good. Madonna opened up the show with a moving speech about Michael Jackson relating to the loss of childhood and feeling scrutinized by the media. Madonna’s speech was followed by an awesome dance performance featuring Janet Jackson. Take a look:
Now for the bad. During Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech for “Best Female Video,” Kanye West hopped on stage and interrupted her by protesting that Beyonce should’ve won it instead. I watched the tacky scene with my hand over my mouth feeling totally embarrassed for what was unfolding. If you haven’t seen the footage, it’s super uncomfortable (if you didn’t see it, you’ll have to catch a rerun of the awards since the Kayne moment isn’t online. Hmmm…wonder why?) Some speculate Kayne’s rudeness was just another MTV publicity stunt and Kayne has since apologized for the incident, but personally I think there is no excuse.
