Vegan and Happy in Ohio, Part 2 Posted by Gina Telaroli on August 20, 2009 at 10:22 am

So I’m still in Ohio and still eating vegan and in the time since my last food picture post I’ve eaten some truly tasty things!

I am always amazed at how easy it is to be vegan when you’ve got great local produce around you.  The vegetables in the below pictures all come from a local farm called Kluzniks.  Kluzniks is one of the reasons I love coming back to Ohio.  Seriously, the sweet corn there is maybe the best I’ve ever had. And their green beans, their zucchini, their potatoes and so on are all amazing.

Also, it is really nice to talk to the women that seem to run Kluzniks.  They are always friendly and when my mom asked them whether or not they used pesticides on their plants (after she saw Food, Inc!) they looked genuinely confused and said “of course not.”

Below are some pictures of the best veggie tacos ever (filled with potatoes and spinach), homemade Belgian style french fries, veggie burgers made from scratch (thanks mom!), grilled tempeh, vegan scalloped potatoes and more (including some pics of Kluzniks) to get you in the vegan spirit of things.

Wow. This all looks very tasty. I am a huge fan and advocate for small farms & the grow your own and buy local movement. We grew some of our own vegetables and herbs this year and exchange with our neighbors who have fruit trees & bushes. The vegetarian lifestyle is one we should all aspire toward to improve the health of the planet as well as ourselves. I wrote about it in my book and discuss these issues on my blog - Live Smart. http://livesmartbook.blogspot.com/2009/08/families-and-small-producers-destroyed.html
Thanks for sharing the great photos & reminding us that vegetarian can be tasty, appealing and healthy.
