Inventor Designs Rolling Folding Bike Posted by Andy Kondrat on August 17, 2009 at 12:34 pm

Maybe, like former Talking Head David Byrne, you’re a big fan of folding bicycles. Yet, perhaps, you have trouble with them, because even once you fold up your bike, it’s still a little bit unwieldy, and maybe even a pain to carry around. So whatever should be done about this? How can folding bikes become even awesomer?

Well, British student/inventor has found the answer for that, by designing a bike that folds into its own wheels, making it a rolling bike. Check it out.

Dominic Hargreaves, the inventor of this clever contraption, said simply that he couldn’t find a folding bike he liked, that could take some punishment, so he just went ahead and designed one himself. And, because of all that, he’s up for the 10,000 GBP James Dyson Award for innovation. And seeing how the entirety of the bike can fold in between the two wheels, I’d say that’s pretty impressive.

Of course, it may not be that everyone needs a top-of-the-line folding bike, but things like this remind consumers that, hey, a bike ain’t a bad way to get around. Anything that does that can only be a step in the right direction towards getting more cars off the road.
