Veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan who suffer from mental health problems such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder may also be at a higher risk of having cardiovascular disease risk factors, according to a new study. After seeing the amazing film The Hurt Locker and having friends and family who have served in the ongoing conflicts, I have been thinking a lot about the challenges returning service men and women face and how vital it is for them to receive the support and care they need.
Whether dealing with physical trauma, psychological distress or just the everyday demands of transitioning back to civilian life, no one should have to go it alone.
