Holy goodness we almost missed a very, very important holiday today. Today, August 13, is International Left-handers’ Days! Now, is this as important as Con Air Day? Well, that’s a toss-up. But! Left-handers’ Day! Now, for those of us that are left-handed, life can be a struggle. It’s the little things you righties never think about–can openers, watches, button-up shirts, public transportation turnstyles, computer mice, gearshifts, guitars, microwaves, and so on ad naseum are all designed for right-handers. I’m pretty sure the only thing we got going for us are toll booths.
So celebrate the day! If you’re right-handed, try doing some things lefty today, like holding your glass in your left hand, or putting your belt on facing the other direction. Or just try to operate some regular tools left-handed, and see how tough it can be (like scissors–we can’t see the line we’re cutting). And, if you’re left-handed, you’re already perfect. Embrace it.
