Earlier this summer, singer Bobby McFerrin demonstrated the universal power of music and it’s effect on our brains when he appeared at the World Science Festival. I would have loved to have been there for the Notes and Neurons panel discussion, which also featured, among other great minds, Daniel Levitan, neurology professor and author of the fascinating book, This Is Your Brain On Music. Watch Bobby’s singing science experiement, which shows the power of the pentatonic scale and human anticipation:Â
How amazing is that? I love Bobby McFerrin and I’m so excited to learn more about how music shapes the way we learn and how we perceive the world. Keep an eye out for next year’s World Music Festival, which is sure to be just as amazing, and find out below how you can support music education in public schools.
