Climate change and carbon footprints may not be the most cheerful topics to discuss with your friends when you’re out for a drink, but as the following video shows, we need to start having more of those talks. The Bill, one of three winners of the Germanwatch screenplay competition about Climate Justice, compares the heavy carbon footprint of an urban Westerner with people in developing countries who will be most affected by climate change. The short film is in German, but fear not, there are subtitles:
Clearly we all need to tally up our own climate bills and work towards reducing our carbon footprints. Even small changes in daily routine can help reduce carbon emissions and make a difference for everyone on the planet. Let’s hope that when international leaders meet in Copenhagen this December, they’ll remember who is really picking up the check if we fail to take serious action on climate change.
