The Virgin Mobile FreeFest 2009 is offering free VIP concert seats to anyone willing to volunteer at homeless youth agencies in select cities. I’m continually impressed by Virgin’s comitment to help homeless teens, and this summer’s festival at Baltimore’s Merriweather Post Pavilion is no exception. General admission tickets, which were free with a $5 donation to help youth homelessness, are already sold-out, so by volunteering you still have a chance to see the unbelievable line-up, which includes Weezer, Franz Ferdinand, The Hold Steady, Public Enemy, Girl Talk, Mates of State, The National and Holy F*ck, to name just a few that I would love to see. If I were you I would make it a priority to volunteer with one of the festivals charitable partners, and grab a VIP seat before it’s too late. The FreeIP tickets also include transportation to the event from major cities, including a special flight from LA, so no matter where you are there’s really no excuse.  Â
Even if you aren’t able to make it to one of the cities to volunteer, you can still make a huge difference in the lives of homeless teens by texting your donation now. Be sure to check out Flavorpill’s exclusive interview with Virgin Mobile’s Ron Faris to learn more. Apparently the festivals premier partner Kyocera is also offering aspiring filmmakers ages 16-22 to help document the show, so if you if that includes you, check it out. And to top it all off, the festival will include many green features such as composting, recycling, clean energy and more. Excellent.

I think it’s great that Virgin is doing this. But I heard something that’s bugging me - supposedly Virgin is coming out with a $10/120 minute phone card for the poor or unenmployed. The cheapest phone cad I’ve been able to buy from Virgin is $20! I think Virgin needs to open up this plan to ALL it’s customers, whether we’re poor or not. It’s the right thing to do! Don’t brush off your loyal customer base Virgin - we’re your bread and butter.
Hey Guys and Gals! Pledge to volunteer and be entered to win a pair of free tickets and backstage passes to the FreeFest. Head over to http://thevoluntour.org to learn about more shows causecast and the voluntour have this summer and how give back to your community.
