Crude: Upcoming Movie Trailer Posted by Gina Telaroli on July 24, 2009 at 11:37 am

movie-preview11This I am also very excited for.  First because I’ve always liked and respected the work of documentary director Joe Berlinger and second because it’s about such an important topic.  That topic is the legal and environmental mess surrounding the $27 billion “Amazon Chernobyl” case.

The Amazon Chernobyl case centered on 30,000 people living in Ecuador and their fight against the oil giants for the right to clean land and water.   The trailer below looks really great, not to mention that my fellow TakePart blogger Adriana has had me excited for the film since she wrote this.

Not only does it look to be impressive filmmaking but it is about something that is so important, especially today as so many are fighting for alternative energy (which oil companies are no doubt not happy about).

Just a note that the film is playing next week at the New York International Latino Film Festival and that it opens in NYC in September!

I worked in Ecuador during this time for another oil company and was always amazed how much the Ecuadorian government allowed Texaco to get away with. I hope the film shows this side of the issue. Later, the ECU government essentially siezed the operations there and ran it into the ground. Only after this happened did all the “problems” begin. I’ll be watching this one closely…

Very well done and did a great job of presenting a twisted and complicated story in an even-handed manner. So download and watch crude movie and have a nice time !!
