This is the directorial debut of Drew Barrymore and while there is a lot in the trailer that I would normally kind of shy away from (Ellen Page, the Fox Searchlight brand of American Indie, cliche nerdiness) I have to admit that it kind of won me over by the end.
Maybe it’s because I used to love roller skating and I would have liked being a part of a group like the one in the movie. Maybe it’s because Kristen Wiig is in the trailer and I absolutely adore her. Maybe it’s because I like underdog stories. Maybe it is because it’s a film filled with women.
Whatever the reason I kind of dug the below trailer.
Will I see the movie? Well that is another questions entirely.
There are always a million movie choices here in NYC so I doubt I will catch this when it actually comes out - but if I somehow got dragged to it I wouldn’t be upset.
