Two weeks after the police raid at the Rainbow Lounge in Fort Worth, Texas, the mayor of Forth Worth has issued an apology to the gay community.
Approximately 250 people were gathered at the City Council chambers to listen as officials discussed the events of the June 28th incident when someone from the audience called out for an apology. Mayor Moncrief replied by saying, “If you want an apology from the mayor of Fort Worth: I am sorry about what happened in Fort Worth.” His remarks were met with applause.
The incident is still under investigation by the Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission and Fort Worth Police Department.
