In honor of Bastille Day I encourage you to check out some French cinema today! Below are clips and trailers from 10 of my favorite French films.
The list isn’t definitive by any means (it would take me forever to make that list) but all of the films below are different and wonderful and a great way to indulge in all things French and celebrate Bastille Day!

Oh where is my Jules et Jim!!! hehe. great post
it’s an amazing film, but, Jeanne Diehlman is a Belgian film, I’d say! Akerman is from Belgium and the rest of the title: 23 quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles. I couldn’t speak to whether the production company is French and yet..
Cosign on Breillat “Fat Girl,” and I’ll have to watch that Denis film, I love her a lot.
Sal - Alas I know JD is more Belgian than French - but they speak French and the film is listed as a French/Belgian co-production. So that, combined with my love for it made me choose it. Although I probably should have picked a Rivette or a Garrel…. Sigh, too many god French films.
