Celebrities often do amazing things in order to raise money for charity. And sometimes they also do things that are kind of crazy. For example, the Huffington Post is reporting that David Arquette is going to stay in a Plexiglas box above the Madison Square Garden marquee on Tuesday and Wednesday to raise money for Feeding America. His plan is to raise 250,000 dollars by being in the box for 8 hours each day.
I love the idea of money being raised to feed people but I am a little unsure of how Arquette’s being in a box is going to raise money - outside of the Facebook site they have set up to accept donations. The Facebook site is somehow connected to Snickers, which I find to be a bit strange since Snickers is not what should be feeding America (although I kind of love their new ad campaign).Â
I just wish some of this money would go towards programs that taught folks in need how to grow their own food or how to shop for healthy food on a tight budget.  I can’t help but think that the answer to ending hunger is not giving bad processed food to people.
Oh well, hopefully Food, Inc will help to change that. For now I applaud Feeding America and David Arquette for doing something, which is more than most.
