There’s nothing quite like a Pedro Almodovar film. Likewise there is nothing quite like the trailer for a Pedro Almodovar film.

Broken Embraces, like so many of his other films, appears to be filled with striking imagery, bright colors, characters with identity problems, intense romance and of course Penelope Cruz.

My guess is if you like Almodovar you’ll like this movie. It’s hard to get a sense of the film outside of of the context of him being the filmmaker.

I do know that I love the complexity he gives his female characters. He is one of the only filmmakers that consistently makes his women multi-dimensional. And that alone makes seeing Broken Embraces a grand idea.
