The trailer below for District 9 is kind of amazing. I love the slow political build into a horror film. Also it looks have a little of a documentary feel to it, which could be kinda great.
Not to mention that Peter Jackson is putting his name on the project. We haven’t seen Jackson in awhile and I hope that this involvement means goods things for the movie. I also hope that the film keeps a sense of the political as it veers into an action/horror film.
I also love how there are no big stars in this film. FIlms that are meant to be scary are always more scary when there are no famous people present. It keeps you on the edge of your seat because you never know who could die or who is actually an important character.
Also I really love the whole angle of how we treat refugees, prisoners and outsiders. It’s a really pressing issue and the more people are thinking about it, even if just subconsciously or in the context of a horror film, the better.
