Minnesota Supreme Court Declares Al Franken Victorious Posted by Gina Telaroli on June 30, 2009 at 3:06 pm

UPDATE : Norm Coleman has given up his Senate Challenge!

The Minnesota Supreme Court unanimously shot down Norm Coleman’s appeal today and declared Al Franken the winner of the 2008 Senate race.  Their ruling basically stated that Franken got the most legally cast votes. His victory means that the Democrats will have 60 seats and have the potential to beat any Republican filibusters.

Coleman can now either concede or he can try to bring his case to the federal courts (unless they just throw out the entire election).   I hope he finally sucks it up and does what he should have done long ago and step out of the race.

Dragging out the race doesn’t really do anyone any good, especially the people of Minnesota. And even thought nothing is 100 percent final yet, I feel like I can safely say congrats Al Franken!
