It’s always so weird to donate money and not get that consumer satisfaction of being at the register (oh, the anxiety!), and walking away with a freshly designed bag. The Red Cross decided to take the shopper experience and “sell hope” in a busy mall in Portugal during the holidays.
And no, it’s not some Soviet-inspired campaign for Saks. This is for a real revolution needing attention - Burma. There are only 450 prints available for sale right now, so grab your Aung San Suu Kyi print and help out the U.S. Campaign for Burma.
Scream at the economy. Go on, do it. You lost your job…again, or you haven’t had a chance to fly home to visit the fam. Times are tough, let it out. All the screams will be used by six different composers for music and played in front of financial institutions.
4. Abandon ship
After watching the trailer for 2012, these images seem pretty post-apocalyptic. But I guess “visiting abandoned places is getting more and more popular these days and many tourist agencies offer special tours where people can meet the ghost cities and villages face to face.” Huh.
5. Brownie points for being different
Trying to get clean water for the 1 billion on this earth that don’t have it - now that’s a crisis. Check out this new campaign to bring it home. That’s some nasty brown water.
With the sad news of the King of Pop passing, here’s a tribute to him from Make Magazine: Moonwalker Shoes… “a pair of shoes that control Michael Jackson songs when plugged in.” Awesome.
