The Philanthropist premiered last night on NBC. The new drama is about Teddy Rist, a vigilante philanthropist and a renegade billionaire who uses his wealth, connections and power to help people in need. If you missed it (like me) here’s the pilot, which was shot on location in southern Africa:

So far The Philanthropist is getting mixed reviews. And while I can’t give my opinion yet on the actual show (damn you slow Internet connection taking forever to upload Hulu) I do already really like the shows website which has a great resource page with links to organizations that have a direct and effective impact on the issues dealt with on the show. The site also has a production blog with experts participating weekly, giving visitors a chance to ask questions and learn more about how to effect change on several issues that the shows touches on within the series. A show that entertains you and helps you save the world? That’s pretty awesome.
