What would happen if chefs were concerned not only about how the food they created tasted, but also if it was nutritious? What if they were concerned about the environmental impact of the food they used? What if they used their talents to help children? And what would happen if these chefs also happened to be celebrities? Well, you are about to find out.
As the Director of Advancement for Giving Children Hope I’m concerned with getting our message out to the public and advocating for children we serve. So when I met Grace Penney, who was forming a new organization called Culinary Charities, I wanted to see how GCHope could be involved.
The Culinary Charities is doing a variety of events including a 3 day extravaganza where top chefs will compete for the crown of the “The Laurel Wreath.” The crown will be given to the top chef who designs a school lunch menu that pleases little people’s palate and follows nutritional guidelines, environmental standards and constraints established by school budgets. What a concept.
GCHope is honored to be a selected recipient charity and participate in the up-coming Celebrity Food event with celebrity chef Guy Fieri.
