The New York Times has an inspiring article on Rooftop Farms in their Dining section today. In the article Marian Burros explores some risk-taking farmers who are working to make as many urban spaces as green as possible while putting more vegetables on the table.
One of the farms she looks at is actually run by a good pal and collaborator of mine Annie Novak and her partner Ben Flanner. I’ve been going up to their 6,000 sq. foot Rooftop Farm on Eagle Street in Brooklyn on their Sunday volunteer days and the progress they’ve made is quite amazing. I’ll have a video of the farm, including an interview Ben and Annie, up soon. But for now look below for some pictures (the farm is so much greener now) of the Rooftop Farm with the most amazing view ever.

Thats awsome Power to the Green
I live in Billyburg, garden at my home from ground to rooftop decks, would luv to become part of your project — if only to volunteer. Please advise!
Looks terrific. I have an organic vege. plot at the E.4th St. Community Garden (between Caton Ave. & Ft. Hamilton Pkwy and would love to visit your area. Would you please give me the address so I can visit on a Sunday? Is any other day available also?
