Former awesome Sunday vegetarian Sir Paul McCartney wants you to go vegetarian, too. Well, at least on Mondays. McCartney posted a video on his website last week (you can watch it here…guy won’t let us embed video, sadly) in which he suggests that all you all take part in Meat Free Mondays, as he believes this is a great way to help the environment. Though we can’t show the video here, we can quote McCartney via England’s Yahoo! News:
Sir Paul told the Independent: “Many of us feel helpless in the face of environmental challenges, and it can be hard to know how to sort through the advice about what we can do to make a meaningful contribution to a cleaner, more sustainable, healthier world. Having one designated meat-free day a week is a meaningful change that everyone can make, that goes to the heart of several important political, environmental and ethical issues all at once.” He added: “We should care about climate change because if we don’t, we are going to leave our children and their children in a hell of a mess.”
So, maybe you want to listen to McCartney? As he says in his video, you’ve already overindulged over the weekend, so on that Monday when you’re going to the gym to work all that off, help yourself out by not eating meat. And if that’s not enough star power to get you motivated, how about the fact that “Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Hollywood stars Kevin Spacey and Woody Harrelson, actress Joanna Lumley and tycoon Sir Richard Branson are among those backing the campaign”? That do it for you?
You can check out the Meat Free Monday website right here for some good vegetarian tips.
