Explaining the Auto Bailout to Stephen Colbert

Last night on The Colbert Report, economic adviser to the President Austan Goolsbee came on and tried to explain to Stephen what exactly the government is doing by keeping American car companies afloat. Now, I think this clip is great for two reasons: one, Goolsbee holds his own very well against Colbert. Two, when Colbert asks him how he responds to Rush Limbaugh saying he wants the bailout to fail because it would prove socialism works, Goolsbee puts it perfectly. “Look, your house is on fire…Guy runs in, takes your kid out, saves their life. Now is not the time to accuse them of kidnapping.” Great clip. Enjoy.
