In continuing with my 40 days of Sesame Street, wherein I post awesome Sesame Street videos that showcase the issues we care about at TakePart, I turn my attention to an issue we’ve been looking at for the past few days, the importance of journalism.
First, we’ve been looking at how the Chinese government is censoring information and people and second, the news broke that journalists Laura Ling and Euna Lee were sentenced 12 years in a labor camp today for entering North Korea. Both of these stories highlight how important it is to have people that are willing to go out into the field in search of the truth.
Sesame Street may take a lighter approach to reporting but Kermit’s News Flash sketches teach kids early on what a journalist/reporter is supposed to do!Kermit climbs a beanstalk and finds something unexpected…
