In Honor of World Ocean Day: A Gift That Keeps On Giving Posted by Melanie Smollin on June 8, 2009 at 8:37 pm

oceanOne of my favorite non-profits, DonorsChoose.org (see previous post), features a sea of classroom projects that creative teachers in high poverty schools would love to do with their students to teach them about the oceans of the world. If only they could afford to buy the proper materials.

What better way to celebrate World Ocean Day than by helping these teachers inspire a new generation of marine biologists and oceanographers.  Seas this opportunity to sail on over to their website, and consider funding all or part of one of these ocean-themed activities. Who knows—your generosity might help inspire the next Jacques Cousteau!

Here’s a sampling of the Top 10 nautical projects that are shore to float your boat:

One If By Land, Two If By Sea

Fish For My Friends

Adventure on the High Sea Number 15

Under the Sea!

Reliving History through “The Cay”

Dive into Reading about the Ocean Realm

Weather Watch Wisdom

My Book Just Came To Life

Life & Death On The Ocean

Don’t drink the water! Test it first!
