I really love it when MTV uses its influence to educate young people and impact them in a positive way (and no, I’m not talking about The Hills) — MTV’s new show 16 and Pregnant which follows the lives of six young expecting mothers. Each episode will follow a 5-7 month period in the life of a teenager as she navigates the bumpy terrain of adolescence, growing pains, rebellion, and coming of age; all while dealing with being pregnant. Check out the trailer:
MTV has teamed with the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy and the Kaiser Family Foundation to educate young viewers and provoke discussion on the issue. In addition to the TV show, MTV and the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy are providing educators and organizations with viewing guides for each episode and have also created a great online resource stayteen.org. 16 and Pregnant premieres on June 11th, at 10:00pm.
