Google’s Power Meter application has announced it is partnering with eight utility companies in a new pilot program. The Power Meter online software app aims to help electricity consumers - which means just about everybody, except the Amish - make informed choices about their power consumption at home. According to Google, multiple studies have shown that increased access to household energy consumption data saves consumers on average between 5 - 15% on their monthly bills.
The new partnerships with utility companies increase the amount of information Google Power Meter will be able to provide users more information about electrical consumption both at home and regionally. Here’s a list of the new partner companies, after the jump:
- Glasgow EPB - Glasgow, Kentucky
- JEA - Northeast Florida
- Reliance Energy - Mumbai, Dehli & Orrisa, India
- San Diego Gas & Electric - San Diego and Southern Orange County, CA
- Toronto Hydro-Electric System Limited - Toronto, Ontario, Canada
- TXU Energy - Texas
- White River Valley Electric Cooperative - Portions of Christian, Douglas, Ozark, Stone and Taney Counties, Missouri
- Wisconsin Public Service - Northeast and Central Wisconsin and an adjacent portion of Upper Michigan
Google will be rolling out Power Meter to an expanded user base later this year.
