As a recent Twitter convert, I became oddly enamored with link shortening, and now Good.ly, a new service from Skimlinks, I can create a short URL and benefit a charity at the same time. What could be better? (Goodly also happens to be one of my favorite adjectives). For the uninitiated, link shortening is a handy tool when you want to share a website with people, but have limited space, as is the case with Twitter where you only have 140 characters to get your message out. So, when you use Good.ly to create a trim link to a product or service online, 55% of any referral fees go to the charity you pick on the site’s homepage.
Good.ly provides three charities for you to choose from, and the options rotate monthly. You can also contact them to recommend a charity that should be included. So, head on over to Good.ly and start making a difference in the world while you microblog to all of your followers. Oh, did I mention that you can follow both me and TakePart on Twitter? Well, now you know.
Hat tip to Mashable for the recommendation
